2010 MADRID MASTERS
FINAL
RAFAEL NADAL v ROGER FEDERER
6-4,7-6

Rafael Nadal improved to 15-0 on clay
in 2010 and won a record 18th Masters title Sunday, beating top-ranked Roger
Federer in the Madrid final.
The "perfect tennis matchup" was on display as the left handed, two handed
backhanded, topspinning baseliner, fiery Nadal battled against the right handed,
one handed backhand, all court, stoic Federer. As the match continued to play
out, the physical prowess of both players was on display.
However, more intriguiging was the mental chess match as both players, whom are used to hitting winners at will,
had to be extra careful when deciding to be aggressive because both players are supremely talented at passing shots.
Federer tried to mix in some drop
shots and deep slice approach shots, but Nadal was always ready and fired
several amazing winners past the net-rushing Swiss great.
Nadal proved why he will be a heavy favorite at Roland Garros and hopefully
these two champions play again soon.
