2010 FRENCH OPEN
QF
FRANCESCA SCHIAVONE v SAMANTHA STOSUR
6-4, 7-6

Australian Sam Stosur had won 4 out of 5 previous meetings including a 1st round matchup at Roland Garros last year.
Stosur had also thoroughly beaten some of the all time great players in beating Justine Henin and Serena Williams in earlier rounds at the French Open.
So the final looked like Stosur's final chapter to complete her fairytale run to the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen.
But Schiavone played loose and athletic tennis, letting her game flow and used an all court game to take control of points.
Schiavone dared to hit to Stosur's
fearsome forehand but used any reply to her backhand as an opportunity to attack
Stosur's weaker side.
Schiavone rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the second set Saturday and took the
clinching tiebreaker with several brilliant shots.
When Francesca won, she fell onto her back, then rolled over and kissed the clay. She will turn 30 next month and be in the top 10 for the first time too. Bravo Franky!
