2009 MIAMI MASTERS

SEMIFINAL

      SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA    v        VICTORIA AZARENKA

6-3, 2-6, 7-5

Miami - Teenager Victoria Azarenka reinforced this week's first-ever move into the Top 10 as she reached her first major final after defeating  former champion Svetlana Kuznetsova at the Miami Masters.

The 19-year-old Azarenka spent nearly three hours and needed four match points to finally close out Kuznetsova in this marathon match.
Kuznetsova had won all three of the pair's previous meetings, losing only one set in the process.
"All the work I have been doing is paying off," said Azarenka. "I was just trying to play every point from the beginning to the end.
"The second set didn't go so well for me, but I was still hanging in there and just played every point no matter what."
