2009 INDIAN WELLS MASTERS
FINAL
RAFAEL NADAL v ANDY MURRAY
6-1, 6-2

Strong desert winds made
conditions difficult for both players, but Murray will have gone home with the
distinct impression that he was literally blown off court today.
Nadal held a 5-2 head-to-head advantage going into this match, but Murray had
been triumphant in their last two meetings,
including the
semi-finals of the US open in September last year.
Rafa Nadal wasted no time in avenging that defeat, coming out with all guns
blazing,
taking the championship
with a 6-1, 6-2 win and looking every bit the best player in the world.
It had been suggested that Murray was looking like the in-form player coming
into this final, having ousted three-times champion Roger Federer with relative
ease in the semis.
Rafa Nadal, on the other hand, claimed a straight sets victory over America's
Andy Roddick in the other semi-final,
but showed such uncharacteristic inaccuracy in his groundstrokes that many were betting against him for the title.
