2009 FRENCH OPEN
4th Round
ROGER FEDERER v TOMMY HAAS
6-7, 5-7, 6-4, 6-0, 6-2

Federer, finally free of
the specter and reality of Nadal in Paris, found himself down two sets to love
and a break point against Tommy Haas.
The second-seeded Federer won, conquering his own evident distress and Haas’s
still-evident talent.
But it required a stirring comeback that began in the middle of the 3rd set when Federer, down break point, hit an inside out forehand that just barely caught the line.
His fortitude during the immense pressure of that point to play that particular shot was a snapshot of the man.
Any normal human would have gone for a safe shot to extend the rally and hope for an opponent's error.
Federer however, would pick that same shot every time, no
matter the degree of difficulty, no matter the score.
