2009 WIMBLEDON
SEMI-FINAL
ANDY RODDICK v ANDY MURRAY
6-4, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6

All of England had been hoping for Andy Murray to get to the Final of the Championships at Wimbledon.
Even the Queen had left her schedule open to make an appearance to watch if the Scotsman got through his semifinal test against Roddick.
Most Brits, including the 15,000 in attendance believed Murray's defensive ability would be enough to frustrate Roddick.
But, the semi-final should be remembered for a
smart, controlled, powerful performance from Roddick, which included some of the
best tennis he has ever played on the lawns of London.
Perhaps the most surprising element of Roddick’s performance, and certainly the
most impressive, was that he demonstrated that he could volley with poise and
with purpose.
Roddick used to look awkward and clumsy at the net. That wasn’t the case on
Friday. There were also some impressive dinks and drop shots from the American
to round out a complete perfomance.
