2008 AUSTRALIAN OPEN
3rd
ANDY RODDICK v PHILLIP KOHLSCHREIBER
4-6, 6-3 6-7,7-6, 6-8

Sixth seed Andy
Roddick crashed out of the Australian Open to number 29 seed Philipp
Kohlschreiber after a five-set thriller in the third round.
Andy Roddick hit a career match-best 42 aces, but it was not enough to overcome
an inspired Kohlschreiber.
The German player came in with an attitude that he was going to hit everything
at full power, and it worked
to keep Roddick on the defensive.
After losing the 3rd set, Roddick exploded in anger at the umpire and continued
to lambast him for several minutes.
Roddick tried to use his anger to fuel his game, and for a while, it did help
him get fired up to win some crucial points.
But Kohlschreiber continued his attacking play and Roddick was dismissed from the 2008 Australian Open.
