2008 FRENCH OPEN
QF
ROGER FEDERER v FERNANDO GONZALEZ
2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4

Roger Federer got off to a slow start but was able to rebound in time to defeat Fernando Gonzalez of Chile.
After losing three of his first four service games the World’s number one player
rallied to win the match.
Gonzalez is a fantastic shotmaker, and came out on fire. Gonzalez was full of
confidence and had been 16-0 on clay during 2008.
The Chilean player was overpowering Federer during the first set. But Gonzalez possibly came out of the gates too quickly,
and Federer adjusted his game to start playing his best tennis of the
tournament.
Federer's win put him into a record 16th straight Grand Slam semi-final
appearance and a semifinal match up against French upstart
Gael Monfils.
