ANDY RODDICK v DAVID FERRER
6-1, 6-3

Ferrer has been a revelation in his first Masters Cup appearance, sweeping to a
3-0 round-robin record to finish top of the Gold Group.
Meanwhile, Andy Roddick had been playing tremendous tennis before getting
crushed by Federer the night before.
The loss against Federer seemed to have taken a huge mental toll on Roddick.
Still, with his powerful serve, he might be able to win this match and get to the finals to possibly avenge his loss.
Ferrer has the best serve return in the game and used it to put a lot of 130mph
serves back in play to frustrate the American.
Ferrer was not giving any ground to Roddick and continued his effective counter
punch game and used his relentless energy and quickness
to run down every ball. Roddick could not cover the same amount of ground and
Ferrer would eventually pound a flat shot past him.
Ferrer, the only man still unbeaten in Shanghai, was merciless, picking Roddick
off from the baseline and making him chase drop shots, putting more strain on
his back.
Roddick was impressed with the Spaniard's game, saying "I don't know if I have
ever seen anybody move like that (on a tennis court)".
