2007 BARCELONA OPEN
Final
RAFAEL NADAL v GUILLERMO CANAS
6-3 , 6-4

Rafael Nadal became only the second
player to win the Barcelona Open three times in a row after beating Guillermo
Canas 6-3 6-4 in Sunday's final.
One break in each set was enough to give Nadal victory and help the Spaniard
emulate the achievements of former world number one Mats Wilander.
Victory over Argentine Canas also extended Nadal's record-winning streak on clay
to 72 matches.
Canas showed his ability on clay and his tremendous conditioning by running down shot after shot to keep points going.
But Nadal worked like a boxer, tiring his opponent with his relentless topspin shots. Pushing his Argentine opponent side to side and back behind the baseline,
Nadal took control of the match.
Canas' conditioning is superb, but he was keeled over trying to catch his breath
after several points.
Nadal's streak on clay is becoming astonishing, and both players look like heavy
favorites for the upcoming French Open.
