Roger Federer produced an impeccable perfomance to turn the tables on Rafael Nadal and earn a place in the final

of the Masters Cup in Shanghai.

Federer used the fast indoor surface to his advantage.  The balls skidded quickly off the surface and left Nadal

with less time to chase down balls.

But Nadal is a tenacious competitor and tried his best to topple the World No 1 player. 

But Federer has just been too tough lately, and the fast surface

certainly did not help the Spaniard. 

But the strong performance bodes well for Nadal as he prepared for the slower hardcourts of Melbourne in 2007.

World number two Nadal had won six of the pair's previous eight meetings, but Federer dominated play from the beginning

and dictated the tempo throughout.
