MARIA SHARAPOVA v MARTINA HINGIS
6-3 6-3

Sharapova dominated Hingis with
powerful groundstrokes, hitting 29 winners to nine by the Swiss star in their
third meeting in seven weeks. Hingis beat Sharapova in Tokyo, and Sharapova won
in Dubai last month.
When Hingis seemed to be gaining momentum in the second set, a man in the stands
behind Sharapova yelled, “Martina, she’s getting tired.”
Sharapova said, “That kind of pumped me up and I hit two winners in a row. I
looked back at (him) and I’m like, ‘I’m tired, my butt.’”
"I told myself, no matter how many balls it takes I'm going to make one more
ball than her. Mentally, that's how I won."
Hingis' comeback streak is still going strong and she seemed pleased to get to
the SF, but soon she will be hungry for a champion's trophy again!
